Lacie 2/27/20
Lacie is working on Pride and Prejudice with Brit Lit. She has done one paper and was just assigned a second. She needs to complete a lab report for Chem. In Theology, she is using WBE to compare and contrast (7) Jonah and the Prodigal Son. Lacie still needs to finish the test for Oliver Twist and the study guide for Pride and Prejudice. She did earn 85 on Chapter 7 in History. We are on Lesson 38 in Algebra. I want to make it through two chapters in History next week, finish Lesson 2 in Latin, quiz on Latin vocabulary and noun declensions, and do the Oliver Twist paper next week. Fingers crossed, Lacie makes progress over the week-end.

Where are we? Feb 4-6 Lacie
This week, we worked on Fr. Laux assignments for Theology, wrote a paper on the imagery in Hosea for Theology, Chapter 6 in History, two classes with Brit Lit for Pride and Prejudice, watched P & P on film again, worked through Test 10 in Alg.I, wrote and revised her lab report for Chem, finished Chapter 2 in Latin, and practiced her notes in Guitar. Whew! Lacie is working on the study guide for Oliver Twist and reading Pride and Prejudice for homework.

Brit Lit; Pride and Prejudice Book Club
Today, Lacie, Anna, and Angel started Pride and Prejudice. I read the three letters from Mr. Collins to the girls in class. We identified the main characters and began character studies. Tonight we are watching the Pride and Prejudice again. It helps to clarify the characters. The girls are working on the letter from Mr. Collins congratulating Lizzy and Mr. Darcy on their wedding. I will post samples after the girls revise their drafts. It is helpful to have a group discussion. So far so good.
Yesterday’s discussion prompted me to consider Book Club or Reader’s Guide questions. The focus is different. I want the girls to love Jane Austen. Let’s have some fun with these questions.
Update: We spent today's class reviewing Jane Austen's biography and discussing the book club questions. I am loving this unit!
